Lead dancer “Lianne Stubbs” drops by for a Christmas chat…….

Friday, 30 December 2011 00:50

alt1)      At what age did you first realise you wanted to be a dancer?

I can’t remember a certain age, I guess I’ve always wanted to be a dancer, nothing else interested me.

2)      If you hadn’t have become a dancer, what profession do you think you would have liked otherwise and why?

Most people don’t know this about me as I can be a little ditzy sometimes, but I’m very organized and always write lists, so maybe an events planner or something stressful like that.

British Theatre Guide - Review by Robin Strapp (2011)

altEssence of Ireland

Theatre Royal Windsor and touring

Review by Robin Strapp (2011) published in the British Theatre Guide - Windsor - 01/11/2011

Essence of Ireland is a joyous and uplifting spectacular celebration of Irish song and dance. There is oodles of audience participation in this hand-clapping, foot -stomping, captivating evening's entertainment and I loved it.

It is also tells a sentimental love story between Sean Dempsey, born in 1930 in Dublin, and his lifelong sweetheart Cora McGowen, born on her grandmother's kitchen floor in Gort, County Galway.

Review from Surrey Herald and the Hounslow Chronicle

Review from Surrey Herald and the Hounslow Chronicle

IT WAS patently obvious right from the start that this was not going to be a quiet evening of gentle, lilting ballads and lazily-droning uillean pipes.

Even before the first dancers had bounced on stage in a blur of sparkly-costumes and rat-a-tat-tatting feet, the audience was confronted by the sight of two enormous drum kits set up ready for action.

Sure enough, Essence of Ireland proved to be a high-volume, quickfire compendium of song and dance, a colourful, exciting melding of Pogues-style raucousness and Riverdance-inspired agility.

Essence of Ireland

Published Wednesday 14 September 2011 at 12:13 by Clare Brotherwood

Essence of Ireland is made of stuff which stirs the soul and is a veritable feast for the eyes and ears.

Cynics may call the storyline sentimental, but if they fail to be moved or excited by this spectacular celebration of all that is good about Irish culture, they haven’t got a pulse.
